Surgères

Le Colombier gîtes are a  15 minute walk and  a 3 minute drive from Surgères, a picturesque market town 20 km inland from La Rochelle and the coast.

It is famed for its historic walled castle and its traditional farmers market 3 times a week.

 

The town offers a range of bars & restaurants, as well as a cinema, sports facilities including indoor and outdoor  tennis courts &  a skate park. There is also a pretty park which surrounds the château with a good children's play area.

 

There are marked cycle paths  which offer a pleasant way of discovering  the town and surrounding villages.
